You gift from the Item Shop — not from your locker
Fortnite gifting purchases a currently available Item Shop cosmetic for a friend. You cannot mail a skin you already own out of your locker.

How to gift a skin (step-by-step)
- Enable 2FA on your Epic account if you have not already.
- Add your friend on Epic and wait out the friendship timer if you just connected.
- Open Fortnite → Item Shop.
- Select the outfit / emote / wrap you want to send.
- Choose Gift / Buy as a Gift (wording varies slightly by update).
- Pick the recipient — Epic recommends using their Epic display name, not only a console gamertag.
- Confirm the V-Bucks purchase.
Epic notes that some dynamically priced bundles cannot be gifted if the receiver already owns part of the bundle.
Can they receive gifts?
Recipients can disable gift receiving in settings. If you cannot select them:
- Ask them to enable receiving gifts
- Confirm you are friends on Epic, not only a platform party list
- Confirm they do not already own the cosmetic
Gift scams to ignore
- “Gift me first and I’ll gift back” from strangers
- Discord bots that need your login to “send a gift”
- Paying real money outside Epic for a “gifted” OG skin
