Three different tools: mute, block, report

Reporting does not kick them instantly. Epic reviews signals with their safety systems — see Epic Safety Center.

How to mute someone in Fortnite
During a match
- Open the players / report menu (console: typically Options/Menu → reporting players list; PC: often Esc or the in-game social/report UI).
- Select the player.
- Choose Mute for voice, text, or both if offered.
- Confirm.
You can also lower global voice chat or switch voice channels in Settings → Audio / Voice Chat if the whole lobby is unbearable.
In the lobby / social panel
Open your friends / recent players list → select the player → mute options if available.
How to block someone
- Open their player profile from recent players, friends, or party UI.
- Choose Block.
- Confirm.
Blocked players should stop most social contact. Unblock later from Epic account / in-game social settings if you change your mind.
How to report a player
- Open the player’s card (in-match report list, career, or recent players).
- Select Report.
- Pick the closest category (cheating, abusive chat, harassment, inappropriate content, etc.).
- Add a short optional note if the UI allows — facts beat essays.
- Submit.
For cheating, report as soon as you have a clear match context. Do not spam duplicate reports on the same fight expecting faster bans.
What happens after you report?
Epic may warn, mute, restrict modes, or ban accounts that break rules. You usually will not get a public “we banned them” message. That silence is normal.
If you were banned and believe it was wrong, use the ban appeal guide — do not create ban-evasion accounts.

FAQ
Can I report after the match?
Yes — use recent players / career when the in-match list is gone.
Does reporting soft-ban them for me only?
No. Mute/block are personal filters. Report is for Epic enforcement.
Voice chat still hears them after mute
Double-check you muted the correct player, that party chat is not a different channel, and that game volume vs voice chat sliders are not confused.
