Short answer (USD, as of 19 March 2026)
Epic published a V-Bucks price increase that started 19 March 2026. The dollar tiers went up, and each pack grants fewer V-Bucks than it did before.
| USD pack | V-Bucks you get now | Was | ¢ per V-Buck |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 800 | 1,000 | ~1.12¢ |
| $22.99 | 2,400 | 2,800 | ~0.96¢ |
| $36.99 | 4,500 | 5,000 | ~0.82¢ |
| $89.99 | 12,500 | 13,500 | ~0.72¢ |
| Exact amount | 50 for $0.99 | ~$0.50 | ~1.98¢ |

SKU names in the Epic catalog can still say “1,000 V-Bucks” even after the grant dropped to 800. Trust the amount on the checkout screen, not the old product URL.
What V-Bucks actually buy
V-Bucks are Epic’s premium currency. They do not buy weapons, mats, or ranked LP. Typical spends:
| Purchase | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Battle Pass | 800 V-Bucks (or included with Crew) |
| Battle Bundle (pass + 25 levels) | 2,600 V-Bucks |
| Uncommon outfit | ~800 |
| Rare outfit | ~1,200 |
| Epic outfit | ~1,500 |
| Legendary / Icon Series outfit | ~2,000 |
| Pickaxe / glider / wrap / emote | 200–1,500 depending on rarity |

Cheapest pack (and when a smaller one wins)
On the USD table above, 12,500 for $89.99 is the lowest cents-per-V-Buck. That only helps if you will actually spend 12,500. If you need 800 for the Battle Pass, the $8.99 pack is the honest buy — leftover from a $22.99 pack is only “value” if you already wanted another shop item.
Worked examples (USD, ignoring tax / Epic Rewards):
- Need 800 (Battle Pass) → one $8.99 pack, 0 leftover.
- Need 2,000 (Legendary skin) → one $22.99 pack (2,400) is usually cheaper than three $8.99 packs.
- Need 2,600 (Battle Bundle) → one $22.99 + one $8.99, or check whether Crew is cheaper this month.
The calculator brute-forces those combos so you do not have to.
Epic Rewards 20% back (not extra V-Bucks in the pack)
If you pay through the Epic Games Store or Epic’s payment system (PC, iOS, Android, web — not every console checkout), Epic’s note is 20% back in Epic Rewards. That is store credit, listed as dollars on the official table (for example +$1.79 on the $8.99 pack). It is not 20% more V-Bucks stuffed into the pack.
Gift cards still redeem at the printed V-Bucks amount. How to redeem: V-Bucks cards + creator codes.
How this compares to “free” V-Bucks
Finishing the paid Battle Pass currently returns 800 V-Bucks — enough for the next pass, not a shop fund. Free-track nodes are a drip. Save the World Founders dailies still exist only on Founder accounts. Everything else is a scam page. Full list: legitimate free V-Bucks.
Crew is a subscription, not a pack. Math: Is Fortnite Crew worth it?.
Currencies that are not V-Bucks
Sprite Dust, Gold Bars, Gizmos, and X-Ray Tickets do not convert into V-Bucks. Fortnite currencies explained.
FAQ
How much is 1,000 V-Bucks now?
There is no 1,000 pack on Epic’s post–March 2026 sheet. The old $8.99 / 1,000 tier is now 800 V-Bucks for $8.99. If a store tile still says 1,000, read the grant on checkout.
How much is 2,800 V-Bucks?
That pack is now 2,400 V-Bucks for $22.99.
Do V-Bucks expire?
No. Unused V-Bucks stay on the account. Seasonal currencies (Sprite Dust this season) are a different wallet.
Can I transfer V-Bucks to another account?
No. Gifting cosmetics is a separate shop flow with its own rules: how to gift skins.
Why does Google still show $7.99 / 1,000?
Those are pre–March 2026 numbers. Ignore them. This page + the in-game store are the check.
