Fortnite Currencies Explained (V-Bucks, Sprite Dust, Gold Bars)

What each Fortnite currency actually buys in 2026: V-Bucks vs Sprite Dust vs Gold Bars vs Gizmos vs X-Ray Tickets — and which ones expire on 1 November.

One wallet is premium. The rest are mode wallets.

Players search “Fortnite currency” meaning V-Bucks, then get confused by Sprite Dust, Gold Bars, Gizmos, and X-Ray Tickets. None of the seasonal / in-match wallets convert into V-Bucks. Anyone selling a “Dust to V-Bucks converter” is scamming you.

Last reviewed: 26 October 2026. Override (Chapter 7 Season 4) ends 1 November 2026 ET.

V-Bucks (the one Google ads care about)

Premium currency. Pack prices, Battle Pass 800, Crew grant 800: How much are V-Bucks?, Battle Pass cost, Crew, calculator.

Admin Panel Lobby Hack codes give XP / Dust / Sprites — never V-Bucks. Admin Panel codes.

Sprite Dust (Override)

Sprite Dust is Chapter 7’s seasonal Sprite wallet. You earn it from Sprite progression, some quests, and Lobby Hack codes. You spend it to summon a Sprite you already collected and to buy Loot Hacks that rewrite *your* next chests (Gatekeeper, Finger Guns, etc. this week — v42.40 notes).

Dust does not become V-Bucks. Unused Dust is not advertised as carrying into Season 5. If you care about a Sprite loadout this week, spend it. How to extract / bank Sprites (older Runners write-up still useful for the extract loop): extract Sprites. Live map layers: interactive map.

Gold Bars

Gold Bars are the in-match BR currency you pick up and spend at vendors / services during a game. They are not Item Shop money. They do not buy Battle Pass levels.

Bars on your account are not a season-end wipe in the way Dust is, but Override-themed vending and boss purchases leave with the island. There is no reason to hoard bars into downtime hoping a Season 5 machine still sells this week’s Mythic.

If a site tells you Gold Bars convert to V-Bucks at a rate, close it.

Gizmos

Gizmos are another Override seasonal counter (hacks / toys). Same rule as Dust: use them before 1 November. They do not pay rent on the Item Shop.

X-Ray Tickets (Save the World)

If you play STW, X-Ray Tickets roll llamas. They are not Founder V-Bucks. New STW accounts do not magically farm BR V-Bucks. Free V-Bucks — Founders only.

What to spend before 1 November 2026

Priority if you are cashing out Override, not “investing”:

  1. Battle Pass pages you already paid for — V-Bucks nodes included (XP calculator)
  2. Sprite Dust / Gizmos on summons and Loot Hacks you will actually play
  3. Gold Bars in matches this week, not in a spreadsheet
  4. Leave V-Bucks alone unless you want a shop item — they keep

FAQ

What is the main Fortnite currency?

V-Bucks. Everything else is a side wallet.

Can I buy Sprite Dust with V-Bucks?

Not as a standard Item Shop pack. Dust comes from playing / codes.

Do Gold Bars reset every match?

You spend what you carry in that match at in-world vendors. Do not confuse that with your V-Bucks balance on the account.

Will leftover Dust become V-Bucks at season end?

No.
