What Safety in Numbers is
Safety in Numbers is a Fortnitemares-adjacent UEFN / Creative questline. Every stage asks the same thing: earn XP on Horror Creator-made islands while you are in a party with at least one other player. Ten stages. Cosmetic milestones sit on 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10.
This is not Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload, Horde Rush, OG, or the Jack-a-Nape Nitemare track. If you grind pubs all night and the Safety in Numbers bar does not move, you were in the wrong mode.
The cosmetics shipped on the Fortnite-API catalog on 15 October 2026 — the same day as v42.40. Last reviewed: 29 October 2026.

Recap blogs sometimes call the stage-8 pickaxe Ghostly Claws. The live BR name on Fortnite-API is Chilling Claws. Use the locker name, not the blog name.
Each completed stage also grants on the order of 10,000 Battle Pass XP. That XP only helps the Override pass if you bank it before 1 November 2026, Eastern Time. After the pass locks, the remaining stages are still worth the cosmetics if the quest timer is still running.

If a guide tells you Cuddlz expires on Halloween, they copied the Fortnitemares date. Finish Override pass XP from this track before 1 Nov if you care about tiers. Finish the 10 stages by whatever date the quest screen shows.
How to make a stage count
- Party with at least one friend (duo is enough). Solo Creative does not satisfy “with friends.”
- Discover → filter Horror (Creator-made). Pick an island that is actually tagged Horror, not a gun-game with a pumpkin loading screen.
- Load in together. If someone is still in the BR lobby, you are not in the island yet.
- Play until the stage’s 80,000 XP on that island ticks. AFK in the spawn cage is the usual way to get a zero.
- After the tick, the next identical “earn XP in Horror Creator-made Islands in a party with friends” row appears. That is normal. It is ten copies of one objective, not ten unique chores.
- Claim milestone cosmetics on the quest screen as they light up. Cuddlz is Locker → Back Blings.
We will not publish a “best XP map” code list. Those codes rot, get stolen, and turn into malware landing pages. If an island is in the Horror category, in a party, and the quest HUD is visible in the lobby before you ready up, you are on the right path.

Why this page exists after 1 November
Treasure Hunters is only a name and a date on Epic’s 24 Oct teaser. Write-up: Treasure Hunters. We are not promising the Horror category survives the reboot. We are saying this questline was built as a Creative track with a timer that recap sites place after Override. If Discover still has Horror islands and the quest is still in your tab on 2 November, keep grinding. If the row vanished in downtime, it ended — we will not invent a makeup quest.
FAQ
How much XP is Cuddlz?
800,000 XP on qualifying Horror islands (10 × 80,000), plus whatever the maps themselves award toward the Battle Pass as a side effect. The 80k is the stage gate, not “80k total for the whole track.”
Can I do it with a second account in the same house?
The quest text says a party with friends. Two logged-in accounts in one party is how a lot of people finish when nobody is online. We are not going to moralize it. If Epic wanted a unique-household check, the client would say so.
Does Cuddlz work in Festival / Reload?
Back blings that are real BR cosmetics equip in BR and Reload. Festival slots are a different locker. Equip it in BR first; do not assume every mode lists every back bling.
Is Tarnished Crowbar a Half-Life collab?
The description reads like a crowbar joke. Epic has not posted a Half-Life collab on the Fortnitemares news post. Treat it as a pickaxe with a wink, not a Valve bundle.
Will these go to the Item Shop?
Epic has not said. Same answer as every event cosmetic: maybe later, not a plan.
