What “crossplay not working” usually means
Most complaints are one of these:
- Invite button missing / greyed out

Crossplay in Fortnite is real — PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and mobile can party together when accounts, privacy, and network allow it. The failures are almost always settings or linking, not “Epic deleted crossplay.”

Fast checklist (do this in order)
- Everyone fully restarts Fortnite (not just return to lobby).
- Confirm you are friends on Epic (cross-platform parties key off Epic friends more than console friends alone).
- Check Party privacy is not Private on the leader if others need to join via browse.
- Confirm nobody is in a match / queue / tournament lock that blocks invites.
- Verify console cross-platform multiplayer / communications permissions are allowed (especially Switch / kid accounts).

Step-by-step: send a crossplay invite that works
- Add the player as an Epic friend (name search / invite link). Console friends lists alone are not always enough for every crossplay path.
- Both players sit in the lobby, not mid-match.
- Party leader opens the friends / party panel and sends Invite.
- Invitee accepts from the invite toaster / friends panel.
- Confirm both names show in the same party widget before queueing.
If invites fail only from one direction, the recipient’s privacy or platform communication settings are the prime suspect.
Platform settings that block crossplay parties
PlayStation
- Enable consoles’ cross-platform play / multiplayer permissions for the account
- Check privacy → who can invite you to games / messages
- Make sure Fortnite is allowed online for the PSN account
- If two PSN users share a console, confirm the correct profile launched Fortnite
Xbox
- Xbox privacy → communication & multiplayer → allow multiplayer / cross-network play as needed

- Avoid double NAT (ISP gateway + second router both doing NAT) — set the second device to Access Point mode when possible
- Test on a phone hotspot — if parties suddenly work, your home NAT/routing is the culprit

“Invite not working” after blocking / reporting

- Friend is on an alt Epic created by a rushed console prompt
- You linked the wrong PSN/Xbox years ago and still play on it
